Committee Meetings
Holsworthy AFC Annual General Meeting
Thursday 29th July 2010
The 2010 AGM took place at the Magpie/RBL Club at Upcott Field and took the usual format with Chairman Barry Parrish initially referring to the disappointing season on the pitch although off the pitch all was well, writes Alistair Clements.
On a positive note progress is being made with the intended purchase of a tractor, gang mower and aeration equipment to help pitch quality and particularly drainage which has long been a bugbear. Such purchases are expensive but necessary.
Major Sponsors remain on board including Builders R&CH Wilson and Alf Blackman, Water Treatment Specialists - Heards Water Systems, Medical Clothing Manufacturers A W Bent and Carpet Cleaners Homeclean without whose continued support the Club would have some financial difficulty.
Secretary Ivor Phillips was concerned about on-field discipline issues which must improve and noted with pleasure that the Third team had won the Subsidiary Cup. Generous comment was made of previous Team Manager, Mickey Clarke who has now moved up to the Management Committee. The Youth Section has obtained Charter Status very commendably.
Treasurer Becky Moore reported that unlike virtually every Premiership, Championship and Football League Club in the land, Holsworthy had made a profit on the year reversing a recent trend when deficits had been posted. Strict financial controls had enabled this to happen not least that "if you aint got it, you can’t spend it". Net Assets were also better so the improved surplus did not cause depletion in reserves.
Amendments were agreed to the Constitution and Rules, mainly corrections and updates but necessary nonetheless. After a few relatively minor queries and comments from the floor the Meeting concluded. D.A.Clements.
