Results
The South West Peninsula League was formed following an amalgamation of the South Western Football League and the Devon County Football League in June 2007 and consists of 3 divisions.
Division 1 East Clubs are all from Devon and placed at Step 7 of the National League System.
At the end of each season:
One club can be promoted from the Premier Division to the Western League Premier, the bottom 2 clubs can be relegated to Division 1 East & West. One club from each of Division 1 East & West can be promoted to the Premier Division. The bottom side in each of the Division 1's can be relegated to one of 6 feeder leagues beneath the league.
DIVISION 1 EAST MATCH REPORTS
Saturday 6th March
Divisional leaders Stoke Gabriel had to settle for justa draw for the 2nd time this week as they followed the midweek 2-2 draw at Ottery St Mary with a 1-1 draw at home to visiting Appledore today. Galmpton Gents who started the day in 2nd spot suffered just their 3rd defeat of the season as they were beaten 1-2 at home by Exmouth Town which allowed Liverton United to move up a place from 3rd following their 2-0 win away at bottom side Bickleigh. in Exeter their were mixed fortunes as Alphington surprisingly lost 0-1 at home to the University of Exeter and over at Foxhayes, Exeter Civil Service got back to winning ways with a 4-2 win over visiting Okehampton Argyle. The three remaining matches all saw home wins with Budleigh Salterton following up their 6-1 midweek result at Greenway Lane with another home win today, 4-1 over Newton Abbot Spurs. Crediton United who had not played a home league fixture for an unwelcome league record of some 140 days strethcing back to the 17th October celebrated by collecting the points from a 3-0 win over an Ottery St Mary side who have now conceeded 100 goals this season. Teignmouth climbed a place to 11th after they gained revenge for a recent defeat at Sector Lane as they made full use of home advantage to beat Axminster Town 4-0 today.
Wednesday 3rd March
Table topping Stoke Gabriel were held to a 2-2 draw away at lowly Ottery St Mary tonight with the 17th placed Otters taking the lead through Bradley Cooke before a goal either side of the half time break from Tyrone Hawken gave the leaders the lead. Cooke was on hand 5 minutes from time to level and earn a well deserved point for the battling Otters. Budleigh Salterton had a very comfortable home win over Crediton United with the Robins running out 6-1 winners having been 4 nil up at half time. Danny Williams in particular boosted his goal tally with 4 of his side’s goals.
